Important message to users about file downloads and uploads

On the splash page you see when you first log into Free Archwood, we ask you not you use this network for large downloads or uploads.

There are two simple reasons for this:

1. Our wifi network is meant to be shared by several users at a time, and hogging the bandwidth with big file downloads and uploads can interfere with other people's access.

2. The bandwidth you're sharing through this network is a neighbor's personal Internet account. Your big file loads can interfere with their connection, too.

So please, everybody, take this problem seriously. We want to keep this network open for all our neighbors... but if a user keeps using it to download and upload big files, we'll have no choice but to block that user.

Thanks.

Welcome to Free Archwood Wifi

A couple of days ago some neighbors on Archwood Avenue in Cleveland turned on a free public wifi network on our street, using several Open-Mesh minirouters mounted on our front porches.

If you came here from the Free Network splash page, or you found this site after using our network, we'd love to hear who you are, how you found Free Archwood and how it's working for you.

You can leave a note in the comments to this post. Or if you prefer, you can send me an email at bilcal@juno.com.

Thanks for visiting.
